About me

My Creative Sanctuary

Nestled in the heart of Noord-Nederland, my cozy studio is my happy place—literally in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by fields, forests, and the quiet charm of the Dutch countryside. Just a stone's throw away from the historic star-shaped fortress of Bourtange, I find endless inspiration in the blend of nature's tranquility and the rich history of this unique region. Here, between sewing machines, fabric scraps, and half-finished quilts, I bring my ideas to life.

Why I Call Myself a Textile Artist

For me, textile art is more than a craft—it's a language. I've been fluent in it since I was a child, long before I mastered algebra or grammar. While others played outside, I was already designing dresses, stitching quilts, and dreaming up costumes. My hands seem to think in threads and textures, and my sewing machines? Well, they've always understood me better than any math textbook.

I love the tactile magic of fabric: how a simple piece of cloth can transform into a Chanel-style jacket, a medieval gown, a whimsical quilt, or even a fantasy costume that tells a story. Whether I'm drafting patterns, hand-quilting, or embellishing with beads and embroidery, every stitch is a conversation between tradition and imagination.

My Passions & Talents

  • Chanel Jacket Expert: I specialize in creating timeless, tailored Chanel-style jackets, blending couture techniques with my own creative twists.
  • Historical & Fantasy Costumes: From Victorian elegance to LARP armor, I love bringing history and fantasy to life. (Check out my HistoriqueCouture portfolio for a peek!)
  • Quilts & Textile Art: My quilts are more than blankets—they're stories in fabric, whether cozy, minimalist, or boldly experimental.
  • BERNINA Blogger: As a tutorial writer and blogger for the Dutch BERNINA website, I share my knowledge and passion, helping others discover the joy of sewing and quilting.
  • Custom Creations: I thrive on challenges! Need a one-of-a-kind costume, a heirloom quilt, or a unique textile piece? Let's make it happen.

Why Textile Art?

Because it's alive. Fabric remembers every touch, every emotion. A quilt can warm a home; a costume can transport you to another era; a handmade bag can become a trusted companion. I'm endlessly fascinated by how textiles connect us—to our past, to each other, and to the stories we carry.

And let's be honest: there's nothing quite like the satisfaction of turning a pile of fabric into something beautiful, functional, and full of soul.
